Analysis of Ancient Ceramics: Dr. Isabelle Druc

I’ve always had an interest in things like archaeology and anthropology, the study of the past is fascinating. How experts can learn and understand how people in cultures lived and interacted a long time ago which can, in turn, help us understand the present and even the future is incredible. Recently, Dr. Isabelle Druc of UW-Madison and The Field Museum Chicago spoke with us about the analysis of ancient ceramics as well as the technology that is helping aid with her research.

Dr. Isabelle Druc is also the author of Portable Digital Microscope: Atlas of Ceramic Pastes – Components, Texture and Technology which is a manual describing the use of portable digital microscopes for analysis of archaeological ceramics in the field or in the laboratory.
