Dino-Lite Capillaroscopes are innovative handheld devices designed for precise and reliable observation of capillaries in the nail bed. These devices offer a high-level of magnification and illumination, allowing for easy viewing and capturing of capillary images.

Physicians can examine the capillary with magnified clarity and digitally record the image for diagnostic and other purposes. While 400x and 500x high mag models are available, many users find that the 200x models, AF7515-N2UT and AF4515-N2UT are the best for simple results and ease-of-use.

Capillary.io is a free desktop application that is very similar to DinoCapture or DinoXcope, but it’s specially designed for doing nailfold capillaroscopy with your Dino-Lite device.

The application is very simple to use, and helps you take photos of capillaries indicating the finger and nail sector of each photo, and makes sure to preserve this information in the image file metadata so it’s never lost even if you rename the file. Also, it saves magnification level and physical distance information in the photo metadata itself, so it can be read by other applications easily.

The physical distance information is very important for examining and measuring capillaries, a crucial part of nailfold capillaroscopy.
